TABDEELI Losing weight isn’t easy, yet it’s not impossible either. I’d been gaining weight like
anything because of consuming the wrong kind of meals at the wrong timings and had
gotten overweight and lethargic. Something had to be done. My wife and her sister
AA NAHI were on some diet and in one month, they had lost about 8–9 kgs, and that too without
exercising. I thought to myself I should give it a try. This diet was called the “Keto Diet.’’
RAHI…. KETOGENIC DIET AKA KETO DIET
The ketogenic diet was developed nearly 100 years ago to help reduce epileptic
seizures amongst children. Due to the nature of the diet with its low-carb, low to
TABDEELI medium protein, and high-fat content, many people often compare it to the Atkins diet.
The main difference is that the Atkins diet works in stages and the keto diet follows a
consistent meal plan. “The keto diet gets its name from the process the body uses to
burn energy, aka ketosis, which is a metabolic state where the main source of fuel for
AA GAEY the body is fat.”
HOW DOES KETOSIS WORK?
HAY “Our bodies are naturally used to burning glucose (sugar) as a primary source of
energy and when one starts to consume less of it, restricting their general carb and
sugar intake (yes, sugars are also carbs), they force a switch in their metabolism –
we sleep for longer periods of time, accidentally skip meals, and when we fast. Without

(General Manager, Marcom & Brands) carbs in our system, the body starts to release fatty acids from stored fat and they get
broken down in the liver. This results in the production of ketones and these energy
molecules are then used to fuel our body.” So all the above literature is very fascinating
but what can one eat or cannot eat... Well it’s very easy:
WHAT TO EAT: WHAT NOT TO EAT:
Meat (beef, lamb, goat), wild-caught fish & Wheat as in ‘’Roti’’
seafood (avoid farmed fish) and poultry,
Rice
Dairy products (plain full-fat yogurt, cottage
cheese, heavy cream, sour cream, cheese), Sugar (all sorts of it)
pastured eggs, ghee, butter,
Fruits
Leafy greens (chard, spinach, lettuce, chives,
etc.), Milk
Some cruciferous vegetables like kale (dark leaf),
celery stalk, asparagus, cucumber, summer
squash (zucchini, spaghetti squash)
Nuts (only a handful of them though)
CAN YOU DO THAT?
Well, the first few days are a bit difficult when you’re not able to have everything you
love, but trust me after a few days into keto, your appetite shrinks and you start to
enjoy it.. besides the results are just amazing! I started off at 84 kgs and after two
months I’ve ended up at 72.5 kgs. The whole transformation is unbelievable! I’ve been
able to fit in all my suits, jeans and t-shirts. The feeling is fantastic and worthwhile.
I recommend people to use this diet only to reduce weight until they achieve their
targeted weight, after which they may continue to maintain their weight by eating
everything in moderation, and by exercising every day.
May the force be with you!
Ciao!
