PTCL HR
THE DRIVE BEHIND
THE FORCE
PTCL SUMMIT PROGRAMME 2018
PTCL is committed to injecting new blood into the organisation. The company welcomed its
fourth batch of Management Trainees in September 2018. Since the commencement of this
programme in 2016, it has welcomed around 350 management trainees in three batches so
far. The batch of 2018 comprised of a hundred talented fresh graduates from an application
pool of fifty thousand, making selection very competitive. Unlike in the previous years,
the selection process entailed the use of digital assessment to ensure transparency and
fairness. It comprised of a number of logical, numerical, and situation-based questions. The
candidates were shortlisted based on merit and after passing the interview stage, were sent for
a comprehensive training programme to PTCL’s Staff College in Haripur. The training lasted
for about four weeks after which Management Trainees were placed in their respective
functions all over Pakistan for on-the-job-training. The end of the training marked the
start of each individual’s professional journey as an Assistant Manager at PTCL.
PTCL’S ONBOARDING PROGRAMME
The Talent Acquisition and Outsourced Team strongly believes that the smooth
transition of new joiners is imperative to their performance. Hence, the concept
of batch orientation was introduced across all PTCL offices in Pakistan to
acquaint new recruits to the company’s culture and business processes.
As a part of the onboarding process, meetings with key stakeholders were
chalked out to ensure that new joiners were connected with all their relevant
stakeholders, within and outside their respective functions. Moreover, the
workplace buddy system was also introduced so that ‘workplace buddies’ could
facilitate new joiners in adjusting to the workplace. Additionally, field visits were also
made a mandatory part of the onboarding plan to help new incumbents familiarise with the
company’s technological setup.
EXPERIA INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
Experia is an extensive internship opportunity that PTCL provides in collaboration with University of London.
As the company is taking strides towards a more digitised workplace, the HR Talent Acquisition Team tried to
accomplish the same in its own capacity by introducing ‘Visume’ (a tool that fulfills the purpose of resume and a
screening tool), to shortlist Experia interns. The tool enabled the team in gaining a more comprehensive insight into each candidate’s
application. Moreover, the programme provided candidates with the opportunity to work on real-time corporate challenges related to their
specific domain, as well as cross-functional areas within different teams.
