PTCL signs agreement with Bahria Town to deploy ICT solutions

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has today inked a MoU agreement with Bahria Town for deployment of Information Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure and services in Bahria Town, Lahore.

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has signed an agreement with Engineers Town to extend Information Communication Technology (ICT) services and infrastructure deployment in Engineers Town, Lahore. 

The agreement shall enable residents of Engineers Town to access telecom services of PTCL including voice telephony, broadband internet and SmartTV. as well as Pakistan’s fastest and most reliable EVO wireless broadband internet services.

PTCL and Civil Aviation Authority sign nationwide online connectivity agreement

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the largest Information Communication Technology (ICT) services provider in the country, has inked an agreement with Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) to provide ICT services as managed model nationwide.

Kamal Ahmed, Chief Digital Services Officer, PTCL and Air Vice Marshal Khawar Hussain, Deputy Director General, PCAA, signed the agreement for establishment of the state-of-the-art communication system at Civil Aviation headquarters in Karachi.

The project will facilitate Air Traffic Controllers in transmitting and receiving data in real time over the redundant last mile connectivity for PCAA radar sites and airports in a faster and reliable manner. The implementation of new system will also help in enhancing audio communication between Air Traffic Controllers and Pilots in a manner that all the communication will take place in real time without any distortion. The setup will provide an efficient, scalable, reliable communication system to meet all the operational and business requirements of Civil Aviation Authority.

Air Vice Marshal Khawar Hussain, Deputy DG PCAA said at the occasion, “the new system will not only make Pakistan Air Space more secure and safe, but it will also help in setting the benchmark by having state-of-the-art technology in place”.

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has introduced a highly lucrative Voluntary Separation Package for its employees. This scheme shall be available for one month, effective from November 5th 2014.

PTCL’s broadband contributes to revenue growth

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the largest ICT services provider in Pakistan, on Thursday announced profitable quarter results riding on the back of its growing fixed and wireless broadband business.

PTCL announced revenues of Rs 62.6 billion for the period ended September 30, 2014, an increase of 3% over the same period of last year, while gross and net profit of the Company stood at Rs. 20.9 and 8.7 billion respectively.

PTCL cash flows remain healthy and stable due to the consistent growth in the subscriber base and strong market position.

PTCL Group earned revenue of Rs 99.3 billion during the reported period. Net profit earned was Rs. 7.8 billion, while gross profit was recorded at Rs. 34.2 billion.

Walid Irshaid, President & CEO PTCL expressed his satisfaction at the financial performance of the company adding that, “We have delivered once again on our promise to our shareholders. Despite the setback due to the recent floods and the fire incident at one of our facility in Lahore, the dedication and resilience of our staff to restore services in flood affected areas and to resurrect the entire facility; in a matter of days demonstrates our commitment to our customers. Our profitable third quarter results once again show our ability to work with diversified product line aligned with market demand”.

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has partnered with United Bank Limited (UBL) to introduce an online bill payment service which will enable their customers to pay bills and recharge prepaid services online through credit and debit cards with ease.

This online bill payment service, based on UBL’s internet based cutting-edge payment system, provides PTCL customers with a secure, easy and efficient way to make payments of their monthly telephone and broadband bills. In addition to automatically restoring customer accounts, this service will also enable customers to recharge PTCL EVO prepaid.

The agreement was signed by Mohamed Essa Al-Taheri, EVP Cost & Credit Management, PTCL and Syed Taha Afzal, Head of Consumer Finance, UBL at a ceremony held at PTCL Headquarters in Islamabad. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Muhammad Nehmatullah, Chief Financial Officer, PTCL and other senior officials from both the organizations.

PTCL carries-out relief efforts in flood affected areas

PTCL reaches out to flood affectees by providing relief goods and setting-up medical camps

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is carrying-out relief efforts in the areas affected by recent torrential rains and severe floods. A large part of the country including Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces has been inundated by the recent floods, affecting millions of people.

PTCL has mobilized various resources in extending support to the local administrations for providing humanitarian assistance to the affected people. The company has already deployed 10 fully equipped medical camps for providing on-spot medical care in the worst hit areas of Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhang, Faisalabad, Multan, Narowal, Sialkot, Sahiwal and Chiniot.

Medicines worth approx. Rs. 2.5 million have been provided to the affected families. Additional support through delivery of necessary food items and relief goods, worth approx. Rs. 5.5 million have also been distributed in Gujranwala and Jhang districts.

The relief activities are being undertaken by PTCL volunteer teams, who are coordinating and carrying out these activities in liaison with the local authorities.

These trainees spend the first month under classroom training in the PTCL Training Academy located in Haripur. PTCL commits to restore services in flood affected areas

Islamabad: The recent floods have affected a large part of the PTCL network in the flood affected areas. Flood waters have not only flowed into the exchanges, but cable system has also been damaged by the gushing water, resulting in temporary disruption of services to the customers.

PTCL launches customized e-learning program for underprivileged youth

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), largest ICT services provider of the country, today launched an online education program ‘Illuminating Learning Movement (ILM)’ aimed at providing customized and interactive e-learning solutions to underprivileged students.

The program is being launched in collaboration with Click2Learn, which is a comprehensive adaptive online education platform. The initiative, in the preliminary phase, shall enable 5000 talented and underprivileged students to access and benefit from this customized platform of Click2Learn.

This initiative by PTCL is in alignment with the Prime Ministers’ Youth Development Program, enabling youth and marginalized communities to get e-learning education opportunities, resulting in employment and economic empowerment.

He commented, “We distributed laptops on merit. Laptop is not leisure but a necessity item these days. Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has signed a MoU with Askari Bank’s Islamic Banking Services Division for provision of Islamic Ijarah and Musharaka facilities to PTCL employees at specially designed rates.

The agreement was signed by Syed Mazhar Hussain, Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) PTCL and Fahd Sardar Khan, Country Head, Islamic Banking Askari Bank Limited at PTCL head office in Islamabad. Senior management from both the organizations was also present at the occasion.

The collaboration will enable PTCL employees to avail Shariah compliant products within the framework of Islamic Ijarah including cars, motor bikes and Diminishing Musharaka for home financing on specially designed rates.

PTCL posts strong results for Q2FY14 with 10% cash dividend

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the largest ICT services provider in Pakistan, on Tuesday announced strong second quarter results riding on the back of its growing fixed and wireless broadband business.

PTCL announced revenues of Rs 42.8 billion for the period ended June 30, 2014, an increase of 7% over the same period of last year, while gross and net profit of the Company stood at Rs. 15.3 and 6.9 billion respectively. The Board of Directors has declared 10% interim cash dividend.

PTCL cash flows remain healthy and stable due to the consistent growth in the subscriber base and strong market position.

 PTCL Group earned revenue of Rs 68.5 billion during the reported period, showing an increase of 5% over the same period last year. Net profit of Rs. 8.2 billion was recorded, while gross profit was recorded at Rs. 25.6 billion, an increase of 7% over last year.

 Walid Irshaid, President & CEO PTCL expressed his pleasure at the strong performance of the company adding that, “Our robust second quarter results again demonstrated the ability of our diversified line of business to perform to the expectation of our shareholders”.

 “Despite intensified competition in the telecom market, we have continued to outperform and raise the bar even further for the industry to follow. The growth primarily stems from growing broadband portfolio, while support to the bottom-line also came from improved corporate services portfolio, which has seen a significant increase,” added Walid Irshaid.

PTCL initiates relief efforts for IDPs by providing relief goods and medical facilities 

Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) is reaching out to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from North Waziristan by providing support through delivery of relief goods and medical facilities to the affected people. In this connection, the company has arranged to distribute food items among the affected people in close collaboration with the concerned authorities.  

The company has also set up two medical camps where on-spot medical care including medicines is being provided to the IDPs and their families.   

All these activities are being supervised by the PTCL volunteer teams who are coordinating and carrying out the relief operations in liaison with the district administration officials.

 A ceremony to acknowledge customers who have been associated with PTCL and enjoying the company’s services for more than 30 years was held here in Islamabad. Customers were presented with Life Time Relationship awards. The company has also provided One Year complimentary usage of Broadband services and One year complimentary usage of Smart TV services to appreciate long term loyalty of these customers with PTCL.

Comprising of various interactive and creative sessions, the conference gave an opportunity to the participants for knowledge sharing and discussed in detail different initiatives & promotions regarding existing and new products & services at regional and national level.

Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) PTCL, Furqan Qureshi led the conference by sharing valuable insights which was also attended by CBDO, Muhammad Nasrullah;  CFO, Muhammad Nehmatullah; CHRO, Syed Mazhar Hussain along with other senior officials of the company representing Commercial and Regional level management.

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) held its 2nd HR Conclave ‘Future-Fit HR’ here in Islamabad. The two day conference provided PTCL HR fraternity an opportunity to define together, the strategic HR agenda that reflects the commitment and readiness of PTCL’s Future-Fit HR team, to lead the company towards growth and success.

The annual platform enables HR professionals to collectively review past performance, celebrate achievements, explore industry best practices, gain business insights and participate in focus group sessions to gear up for the future and develop a clear line of sight backed up by a strategic action plan.

PTCL partners with HEC to promote education in Pakistan

Muhammad Basharat Qureshi, PTCL Executive Vice President Corporate Services signing agreement with Anwar Amjad, Director General IT, HEC to provide EVO wireless devices to university students nationwide.

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has partnered with Higher Education Commission (HEC) to promote education in the country.

In this regard, the company inked an agreement today with HEC for provision of 100,000 EVO wireless devices to university students nationwide. The devices will be provided along with laptops under the Prime Minister’s National Laptop Scheme.

Walid Irshaid, President & CEO, while commenting on the occasion said, “PTCL proudly believes in contributing towards the development of education in the country and this initiative shall further provide the youth of the country with more convenient access to quality education, raise their standards as well prepare themselves for the future”.  

“Accessible and affordable broadband internet has the potential to virtually change the whole education-eco system in the country and bring unprecedented level of education, employment and learning opportunities,” added Walid Irshaid.

The agreement was signed by Muhammad Basharat Qureshi, PTCL Executive Vice President Corporate Services and Anwar Amjad, Director General IT, HEC at the HEC secretariat in Islamabad.

Senior government officials, representatives of HEC and PTCL senior officials were also present at the ceremony.
