Islamabad, October 02, 2019: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) kicks-off a new initiative ‘Talks@PTCL’, which is a series of talks to be held at PTCL HQs for capacity building, knowledge sharing and thought leadership. These talks will be given by accomplished industry professionals, who are experts on technology & business, entrepreneurship & startups, culture, arts and entertainment.
The speakers at the first session of ’Talks@PTCL’ event were Badar Khushnood, former Country Consultant, Google Pakistan, Yusuf Hussain, CEO of Ignite and Aban Haq, Head of Innovation, Karandaaz Pakistan. Along with management and staff from PTCL, Ufone and Ubank, students & faculty members from various leading universities, corporate customers and industry professionals were also present during the session.
Talking on ‘Magic moment of e-Commerce’, Badar Khushnood, said, “With more than 70% of 200 million people below the age of 30 in the world’s 6th most populous country, Pakistan, is quickly becoming a digital-first country. With an economy powered by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and a rapidly growing population of mobile users, the country is on its way to produce one of the largest digital audiences in the world. The most efficient way to do business in this rapidly evolving environment is to natively adopt e-commerce.”
Speaking at the event, Yusuf Hussain, whose topic was ‘Supporting startups through incubation centers’, said, “Startups are the building blocks of the knowledge economy. To thrive, these entrepreneurs require an ecosystem that includes funding, incentives, HR, regulatory support, networks, mentors, specialized legal and accounting services. Incubation centers are the epicenter of this nascent ecosystem. Talks@PTCL is an excellent initiative for engaging youth and professionals.”
On the occasion, Aban Haq talked about ‘Startups for Economic Growth’ and said, “We are glad that PTCL is bridging the gap between youth and professionals through initiatives like Talks@PTCL. This is a great platform where our next generation can learn from firsthand experience and success stories from industry specialists. I believe that the startup ecosystem in Pakistan is developing at a rapid pace with so much innovation and technological advancements. Together, we can inspire the youth to work hard for a sustainable and stable economic growth of Pakistan.”
